La Pagode

This is not just a trip to the movies. It's a beautiful artistic Japanese inspired 19 century picture-house with super comfortable velvet seats. You'll feel the romance before the movie even comes on. La Pagode has lots of different screens, so when you go make sure you choose the movie that's in the Japanese room. You've never seen a cinema like it.

Brassai - For the love of Paris

One of the most famous photographers in Paris, this temporary exhibition will take you back to a simplier time - the 1930's. The exhibition is housed in the beautiful Hotel de Ville.

Place de l'Hôtel de Ville, 75004

1920's Speakeasy

What's naughtier than a secret prohibition style speakeasy. On the outside it looks like a boring, low budget pizza palour. But pull open the secret door and you'll find yourself transported back to a 1920's party, complete with piano bar. Wine in a teapot anyone?

Chinese New Year

You don't have to be in China or Chinese to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Officially on Feb. 8th, the festive action doesn't just last for one day. Here are the best ways to say goodbye to the sheep and hello to the year of the monkey.

Chinese Parade

The heart of Chinatown lies in the 13th district. The main part of the Chinese festival is the parade with no less than 2,000 people taking part. With flying dragons and music, the parade starts at 1.00pm and carries on until 5.00pm. You can catch the start at 44 Avenue d'Ivry.

Hot and Spicy

If you're looking for a break from French cuisine and the Chinese parade has given you a craving for the Orient, there are hundreds of Asian restaurants throughout Paris, offering high quality dishes with a kick, often at relativeley low prices for many.

Paris Chinatown Tour

One of the largest Chinatown areas in Europe, the cultural diversity in the 13th district, extends far beyond China. The area represents a fascinating history of Paris, seen through the eyes of Asian immigrants. Even the McDonald's restaurant has an Asian feel. Grab a guide and spend an afternoon exploring an alternative side to Paris.

Best Coffee in Town

It's not just Italy that does coffee. Paris boosts some of the finest cafes in the world. If you need a caffeine,"pick me up" whether sitting down or exploring the city, check out these places.

Boot Café

It's absolutely tiny, so if you go at a busy time, you probably won't get a seat. But don't worry. You can do like most people and grab it to go and sit on a nearby bench and watch the world go by. A stylish cafe, that used to be an old shoe cobblers.

75003

L'Arbre a Café

It's reasonably new and in one year it has made quite a name for itself. The owner used to specialize in wine but switched to coffee in 2009. The special coffee beans used here are only used by handful of other cafes across Paris. L'Arbre a Cafe, is a great getaway as its hidden down a narrow side street. Make sure you have google maps.

10 Rue du Nil
75002

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Egg and Co

Award winning coffee by award winning baristas. Egg and Co have been going strong since 2007. As the name suggests, there is also food on the menu,- mostly eggs. A great place to grab breakfast in the morning. This cafe like many others uses the Cafe Lomi beans. These are beans that really pack a punch.

11 rue Bernard Palissy
75006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
La Caféothèque de Paris

Once of the first places in all of Paris to start offering specialist types of coffee. A hipster, basic design and a modern vide have turned this place into a bit of an icon on the Parisian coffee scene. Staying true to its foundations, La Caféothèque de Paris only offers single estate coffee with no blended coffee and only from independent sources.

52 rue Hôtel de Ville,
75004

Thank You, My Dear

This place has survived and got its name because its perhaps the only good coffee bar in the area. The area is called Oberkampf and it's pretty much a party district, but if you happen to be in the area and need a caffeine injection and a snack, you can't go wrong with this place. It's cheap and has great selections of bread and pastries (some gluten free options too)
