Located in the 4th arrondissement, the heart of the Marais, our one bedroom apartment offers guests a sophisticated blend of traditional Parisian and contemporary style. On the third floor with no elevator of a typical 17th century building, the apartment features an open, fully-equipped, American style kitchen.
In the living area, the original ceiling beams have been exposed and, along with the parquet floor, finished in a rich, chocolate brown. Two large windows with southern exposure and additional windows facing the inner courtyard afford excellent light throughout the day. Carefully selected furnishings create a space that is both aesthetically appealing, practical and comfortable. The queen size pull-out sofa sleeps two adults. The built-in bench along the wall not only serves as an entertainment center (cable tv, stereo) but provides seating for guests and additional storage. Local telephone service is provided as well.
The bathroom features a full size tub/shower and vanity. Direct access from both the living area and bedroom makes this apartment well suited for additional guests. The bedroom, also bright and airy, has a queen size boxspring and matress, excellent closet space and small work area with laptop computer and high-speed Internet access.
The Marais is a neighborhood that offers many complementary yet contrasting experiences for visitors. It sustains a thriving orthodox Jewish community with several of the oldest surviving synagogues in Paris. It is also home to a large gay community and serves as a fashion mecca.
The neighborhood marries the old with the new. It is home to the first paved road in the city, rue du Pave as well as the Centre Pompidou, perhaps the leading contemporary and modern art museums in the world.
The Marais also offers the culinary enthusiast everything from traditional French bistro fare to the latest in fusion cuisine. One can find excellent felafel on rue du Rosiers, people watch at one of the many cafes on rue des Archives or take in the panoramic city views at Level 6, high atop the Centre Pompidou. Not be missed is the oldest square in Paris, Place des Vosges, now a lovely park surrounded by art galleries and several cafes including the Cafe Victor Hugo.
