Description

This apartment is located in the 4th arrondissement, marais area with many shops and stores: bakery, butchery, supermarket, open-air market, theater, restaurant, and cafe. On thefirst floor (with no elevator) of a typical and well-maintained 18th century building, the apartment features an open fully-equipped, American-style kitchen. The apartment, which faces the courtyard, is very quiet and safe.

In the living area, the original ceiling beams are exposed to create a charming atmosphere along with the parquet floors. Carefully selected furnishings create a space that is aesthetically appealing, practical and comfortable. The sofabed sleeps two adults. The living room has cable plasma TV, stereo, fast internet access, and phone.

The bedroom offers a double bed with ensuite bathroom featuring a full size tub and shower. The toilet is separated.

Neighborhood

The Marais is a neighborhood that offers many complementary yet contrasting experiences for visitors. It sustains a thriving orthodox Jewish community with several of the oldest surviving synagogues in Paris. It is also home to a large gay community and serves as a fashion mecca.

The neighborhood marries the old with the new. It is home to the first paved road in the city, rue du Pave as well as the Centre Pompidou, perhaps the leading contemporary and modern art museums in the world.

The Marais also offers the culinary enthusiast everything from traditional French bistro fare to the latest in fusion cuisine. One can find excellent felafel on rue du Rosiers, people watch at one of the many cafes on rue des Archives or take in the panoramic city views at Level 6, high atop the Centre Pompidou. Not be missed is the oldest square in Paris, Place des Vosges, now a lovely park surrounded by art galleries and several cafes including the Cafe Victor Hugo.
