Welcome 2 France Newsletter June 2013
Hello !

Paris is warm all year round-- if you can't feel it in the weather, you can surely experience it from the joyful welcome of our locals. With the summer months in tow, experience both expressions of warmth from Paris and its people. Outdoor events are the highlights of the season and whether you are coming with a family or alone, there is always a festival that suits your style.

Featured Apartments

Champs Elysées - Faubourg Saint Honore II

This 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom luxury apartment is a cut above the rest. The apartment itself is equipped with all modern furnishings as well as elegant decor, but perhaps, one of its best features is its location: it is in a quiet, gated area surrounded by greenery and a courtyard.

Saint Germain des Pres - Nesle

For the humid months, you need to stay somewhere cool and comfy and that is why we would like to re-introduce our 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartment in Saint Germain. This apartment has air-conditioning as well as wide windows to add to the apartment's cool and airy ambiance.

The Great Outdoors

The summer months are often the busiest in Europe. Throngs of families from other areas around and outside of France will be making their way to Paris for fun and adventure. This is not exactly surprising, after all, Paris is the world's most visited capital, but what may be shocking to many is the seemingly lack of family-themed events in Paris.

All year round, Paris hosts art exhibitions, theatre presentation, film festivals, and sports events, but not a lot of them are geared towards the younger demographic. Even museums in Paris are opening indoor nurseries where parents can leave their tikes to play and mingle with other kids as they glance over priceless works of art.

Is there a place in Paris where parents and kids alike can go and have fun? Disneyland Paris has become quite a common choice for families who want to spend their time with the kids, but this isn't the only place where you can go for quality bonding time. In fact, Jardin d'Acclimatation in Bois de Boulogne offers the same experience for less.

Jardin d'Acclimatation, one of Paris' oldest zoos and later, biggest amusement parks, is an alternative to the more popular and busier Disneyland Paris. Unlike Disneyland, where mechanical rides and meet-and-greets with fairytale characters in costumes are highlights, Jardin d'Acclimatation presents a more outdoorsy experience for kids, with camel and horse rides, Gymboree workshops, and enchanted river "cruises" as main activities.

If you consider yourself a more low-key visitor (read: no big group tagging along), joining the lively Rock en Seine or Cinema au Clair de Lune should be in your to-do list.

For cinephiles, indie films and critically-acclaimed movies will be featured at the annual Cinema au Clair de Lune (literally, Movies by Moonlight), an open-air cinema occurring from 1 August 2013 - 11 August 2013. For two weeks straight, you get to watch foreign and French films for free on the grounds around Place des Vosges, Parc Montsouris, Montmartre, square René-Cassin and Trocadero gardens.

Movie-goers will have nothing more than the softness of the earth as cushion (in other words, you will just be sitting on the grass), but you can always rent a beach recliner for a few Euros at the park.

For audiophiles, your party is right outside town. One of the biggest musical events of the year, the Rock en Seine, will be bringing 31 artists to the stage. Expect 3 days of non-stop music and non-stop partying with the world's biggest artists. This year, Rock en Seine will have rock n' roll acts alongside disco and house musicians.

A 1-day ticket costs 49 Euros, but if you plan to spend your weekend at the festival, it's 109 Euros for a 3-day pass. Children aged 6 years old and below are not allowed at the festival.

This Season's Regulars

While we encourage our guests to tread the roads less traveled as they tour Paris, visiting the classics-- or destinations that put Paris on the map-- won't hurt either.

Paris Plages 2013 (from the Louvre to Bassin de la Villette)
From July 20 - August 18, the Seine river transforms into a makeshift beach complete with white sand and beach chairs; also look out for food stalls that will open along the Seine.
Paris Cinema Festival

Fête de la Musique
On 21 June 2013, we celebrate the 31st year of Fête de la Musique. No tickets are necessary; the concerts, covering different genres and musical styles, are free!

A Fancy Feast

There are plenty of terraces in Paris where you can go for breakfast or lunch, but the fine dining experience in the French capital is something you should try, regardless of the season.

One bistro to visit this summer is the cozy Le Pre Verre in the 5th district. Located right by the Latin Quarter, Le Pré Verre serves French cuisine, exotic Asian flavors, plus a few other recipes concocted by head chef, Philippe Delacourcelle. If you're feeling adventurous, you can try some of Chez Philippe's spin on sauteed rabbit or cold souffle.

For wine-lovers, Le Pré Verre has a special place just for you: it's wine bar, curated by Chez Philippe's brother, Marc, is where you can find a healthy selection of spirits. Want to try the best on the shelf? Marc Delacourcelle's honest recommendations will not disappoint.

For the fancier crowd, Le First in the first district may be of interest. Located across Tuileries Gardens, this elegant restaurant serves authentic French cuisine alongside a vast selection of wines and champagne. The brainchild behind the dining experience and artistry is renowned chef, Gilles Grasteau.

The ambiance of Le First Restaurant Boudoir Paris is as pleasing as their menu. The interior, designed by Jacques Garcia, is a marriage of flora, dimly-lit candles, and solid colors.
