Welcome 2 France Newsletter March 2016
Hello !

For many Parisians, March is really the beginning of the year. The expression - "In like a lion out like a lamb", really sums up the feeling of March. The days are getting slightly brighter and warmer as all of Paris gets back its "joie de vivre". Book festivals, tattoo festivals, International Documentary festivals.... this is really when the city comes alive.

Here are some top tips for interesting ways to explore the city this month.

This Month's Featured Apartments

Champs Elysées - Chaillot

Only 10 minutes from Champs Elysees, this contemporary stylish 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment with air conditioning is spacious, quiet and bright. Located on the 2nd French floor with elevator of an Hausmanian building, the master bedroom has a king size bed with an attached bathroom with bath, shower and toilet. The second bedroom has a queen size bed with an attached bathroom with bath.

Tour Eiffel - Trocadero Albert de Mun

For those who like their luxury quiet and understated, step into this hushed art deco masterpiece – the home of an internationally-renowned architect right in the classy 16th district. The mesmeric views of the bateaux mouches on the Seine and the grand spire of Gustav's tower provide the dramatic back-story to what is a finely nuanced masterpiece of interior architecture.

Saint Germain des Pres - Université

This large one bedroom apartment is located in one of the nicest sections of the left bank, and one of the most desirable area, around Rue du Bac and Rue de l'Université. The bright apartment has high parisian ceiling and it is in a classic parisian building, on the 3th french floor with elevator.

Once upon a time, Easter was the most important religious feast in all of France. But don't worry, if you're not a religious person. In the 21st Century during Easter, Paris is the best place to be in the world. The reason for this is simple, Chocolate. The chocolatiers of Paris are legendary around the globe and Easter is the best time to get your hands on some delicious chocolate indulgence. Below is a list of the best places to go for some sugar luxury.

Christophe Roussel Boutique et Bar à Chocolat

It's super kitsch and the bright colors on the wall might blind you, but once your eyes adjust you'll see the range of chocolate products on offer. They don't just offer chocolate, they offer a host of different chocolate options with some unusual spices that you may never have seen before. This is the perfect place to experiment with your taste buds.

10 rue du Champ de Mars

Jean-Paul Hévin

3 Rue Vavin

A perfect mix of chocolate and luxury. This young chocolatier doesn't just do chocolate. He does art. The chocolates on offer are modeled on some of the latest fashion trends, from shoes to bags. Make sure you take a camera or a phone, because you will probably want to share some of the amazing creations that you see.

Its no secret sadly, but it's worth it. When you arrive at Berthillon, you may struggle to get a seat and sometimes queues can even form outside the door. Demand is high and the product is good. You'll find a tonne of eggs and bunny delights to choose from. But we recommend that you try the chocolate "affogato" (a ball of vanilla ice-cream, served in a white porcelain mug with hot chocolate poured on top and topped with praline cream).

29-31 rue Saint-Louis en I'll

Debauve et Gallais

An institution in the city of Paris. Few chocolatiers can say they've been open for almost 200 years. Beginning in 1818, the people at Debauve et Gallais must be doing something right. Today, their cocoa creations are sent all over the world. The perfect gift to bring back home.

30 Rue des Saints-Pères,

St Patricks Day

You don't have to be in Dublin to celebrate this festival. On March 17th, the whole world turns green as people celebrate. Of the more than 1000 bars in Paris, the city boasts some of the best Irish bars in Europe. And what was once a one day festival, has rapidly become a week-long celebration of partying. Below are some of the best places to have a good drink and a good time.

Kitty o'Sheas

Typical Irish name, typical Irish bar. This place takes the centre stage during the St Patricks Day festival. It has everything you'd expect from an Irish bar. Best time to visit is in the evening where live music is guaranteed almost every night.

10 Rue des Capucines,75002

James Joyce

Famous for its beautiful stain glass windows, this pub has been going strong for over 20 years. With its central location just beside the Arc de Triomphe, expect a very international mix, as locals rub shoulders with tourists. We recommend you try the food. It's a good mix between French and Irish.

71 Rue Boulevard Gouvion, 75017

Corcorans Sacré Coeur

There are several Corcorans bars dotted around the city. But this one boasts the best views. The world famous Sacré Coeur is just around the corner and we guarantee that you'll need a drink after climbing all those steps. The Guinness is fresh and there's also a host of craft beers from Ireland and from France on offer.

9-11 Rue Foyatier, 75018

The Green Goose

It's so authentic, it's not covered in green shamrocks. Irish owned and with Irish staff, this bar is like a real pub that you would expect to find in Dublin. Good food with fresh ingredients, you are advised to get here early as it fills up in the evening, particularly if you want to enjoy the fine food on offer.

19 Rue des Boulets, 75011

Secret Churches of Paris

The City of Lights is the number one tourist destination in the world. Everyone comes to see the Eiffel Tower, cruise down the Seine, and see Notre Dame. The iconic cathedral is perhaps the most famous in the world..But in honor of Easter, we are looking at some of the top churches that you probably don't know about. You won't find these listed at the front of every guide book.

The Russian Orthodox Church

12 Rue Daru,
Just by turning the street and you may suddenly feel like you're in Moscow or Saint Petersburg. This Cathedral is over 100 years old and is actually the main church for the entire Russian Orthodox in Western Europe. But if the importance or the architecture doesn't grab you, then consider this is the place where the great 20th Century artist Pablo Picasso married his wife Olga.

Located beside the world famous Pantheon building, this church often gets over looked by tourists because of its more famous neighbour. Except, of course, for those in the know. The architecture both inside and outside is completely unique. It's so unique that Woody Allen chose to film here for Midnight in Paris. A real must for architecture lovers and movie lovers alike.

Place Sainte-Genevieve

Notre Dame du Travail

No its not that Notre Dame, it's another one. Dedicated to those who helped in the construction of monuments for the Great Exhibition of 1889, the interior is truly unique thanks to a huge metal frame. Imagine a stone church and the Eiffel Tower mushed together and you're on the right track.

36 Rue Guilleminot

Simple and elegant. This church is not crowded with tourists, yet it's one of the oldest in all of Paris and has survived for a long time. A typical early Romanesque church that is over 800 years old.

79 Rue Galanade
