Welcome 2 France Newsletter June 2016
Hello !

It's the longest and the brightest month of the year. From sports to shopping to salsa, June is packed with great things to see and do in the City of Light. Summer sales have started, music festivals are cropping up all over the city and of course there's the UEFA Euro Cup. You could do none of these things and simply sip a coffee and soak up the sun. It's entirely up to you, but we've given you all the essential information that you may need to make the most of your stay.

Champs Elysées - Etoile

Welcome to this newly renovated 100m2 apartment located right at the corner of "Arc de Triomphe" on top of the Champs Elysées. Situated on the 5th floor (accessible by an elevator in the building), this lovely 2 bedrooms 2 bathrooms apartment has a wonderful balcony that overlooks Parisian building.

Champs Elysees - Marbeuf

This newly renovated 2 bed 1 bath apartment (54m2) is located in the "Golden Triangle" of Paris's 8th district. Situated on the 6th floor (top floor, with lift in building), this magnificent apartment lets in plenty of natural light including the small skylights on the ceilings. This lovely apartment maximizes in space as there is an open American kitchen, living and dining room.

Madeleine - Greff

This bright and large 2 bedroom with one full bathroom apartment is located on the 1st french floor with elevator of a nice building, just between the church "Madeleine" the Boulevard Haussman with "les grands magasins" famous largest french department stores Galeries Lafayette and Printemps as well as famouse delicatessen stores such as Hediard and Fauchon.

This month, Paris is hosting the biggest sporting event in Europe and you can't miss it. If you are a football fan then you'll feel like a kid in Disneyland walking around the city. The UEFA Euro Cup is being screened in just about every bar you can imagine. If you one of the lucky 800,000 people and you managed to grab a ticket to a live game, lucky you. If not, there are plenty of amazing options where you can enjoy a cool beer, interact with some locals and roar very loudly at the T.V.

Sant Denis

If crowds aren't really your thing, but you still want to watch the games and you don't want to be stuck in a pub or a bar when the sun is blasting, then don't worry. There is another option available and most tourists probably would never think of it. The suburb of Saint Denis is only 10km north of Paris and easily accessible by metro (line 13). It's quieter and less crowded than the centre of Paris and also has a dedicated fan zone located in the Parc de la Légion d'Honneur

Eiffel Tower Fan Zone

Undoubtedly the best place to watch the games will be the fan-zone in the Champs de Mars. The fan-zone will have no less than 7 large screens displaying all the games as well food and drink, and a host of other football related activities. The Eiffel Tower fan-zone which has a capacity for over 90,000 fans opens from midday to midnight (slightly different opening hours at the beginning and end of the tournament. Also, David Guetta (probably the most DJ in France or even the world) will perform a concert on the 9th of June, on the eve of the opening.

Hideout Châtelet

It's hard work trying to find a good bar to watch the game in, and there are literally hundreds of options. Stepping out of your rental apartment and just going across the street you'll probably find several good options. The one that we'd recommend is for two reasons. It's in the centre of town, so it's easy to get to if you have already had a day of exploring the famous sites and also it's quite intimate with a small screen at the front, so you'll feel right at home - The Hideout Châtelet. It's a famous sports bar with a good selection of beers and wine and they also have snacks if your feeling a bit hungry.

Summer Shopping

If football isn't your thing, then don't worry. You can enjoy the best musuems and art galleries in the world. And if thats not your thing either, there's always shopping. Paris is the undisputed fashion capital of the world and for June, you're in luck. The summer sales kick off in June and there's some great luxury shopping to avail of, for a fraction of the original cost. Of course you know about the Champs-Élysées, so we decided to tell you about the places where you can get all the bargains under one roof.

An iconic Parisian department store, this place has everything and is well-worth a visit. If you like shopping you could easily spend an entire day in here. There's an entire floor dedicated to shoes alone. Womens and Mens fashion is where this place really impresses. Month of Music

June is unquestionably music month in Paris and indeed all of France. In June, there's hippy music festivals where you can learn more about the environment and listen to some chilled music while eating vegan food. There is crazy raves with experiemental Dj's that will keep you up all night and day. Theres an African music festival, there's a hip-hop festivals, the list just goes on and on. But one festival that has been drawing in the crowds for years is the Jazz Festival. Here of some of the best places to enjoy some world class, live Jazz music.

Jazz Festival

The festival itself runs from June 11th right through to the end of July with events happening each Saturday and Sunday. The event takes place in the Parc Floral de Vincennes in the 12th district of Paris. Each weekend is specifically dedicated to a type of Jazz such as experimental or acid and it's free (but you have to pay a small entrance to the park). This is the 23rd year of the event and the international line-up is very impressive.

The easy going, unpretentious vibe will help to feel right at home.
