Welcome 2 France Newsletter April 2017
Hello !

The month of April is packed full of cultural events from the super commerical to the alternative to the complete bizarre. In April's edition of our newsletter, we threw our net across the great city of Paris and below is a list of events we think will cater for all. Flowers and trees in full bloom, the French capital is truly beautiful at this time of year, as Spring is in full swing. But beware, make sure you still pack that coat into the suitcase. It's not often as warm as you think.

This Month's Featured Apartments

Champs Elysées - Kleber 4 Bedrooms

This stunning 240m2 4 bedroom 2.5 bathroom apartment is located along Avenue Kleber. Located on the 4th French floor, accessible by elevator in the building, this lovely abode is very quiet (double glazed windows) and lets in a lot of natural light.

Champs Elysées - Marignan

Located on the third floor, easily accessible by elevator in the building, this beautiful flat has all the modern necessities to make you feel at home. In the foyer, you can go straight into the living room to relax after walking around all day!

Champs de Mars - Quai d'Orsay II

Located on the 1st French floor (easily accessible via elevator in the building), this alluring apartment has everything you need to feel at home. The vast living room to start, is alone 80m2 which is larger than most one-bedroom flats in Paris.

French Identity

An unmissable artistic, historic and cultural event about the theme of French identity. If you are interested in knowing the real story of France and what the French think of themselves and what it means to be French in 2017, you will enjoy this. This exhibition is perhaps the most productive, thought provoking and engaging way to spend an afternoon.

With the general election coming up at the end of April, you can expect to see the streets lined with campaign posters and the front pages of newspapers scattered across the metro network donning the faces of the hopeful candidates, this event will definitely be popular but might pass under the radar of most tourists. Over 700 works by 60 different artists, the diversity and range is very inspiring. You can expect to spend at least 2 hours at the venue exploring themes such as exclusion, gender and austerity.

This event focuses more on the socio-political culture of France rather than the specific historial events that shaped it. You can check it out any day in April at the Maison Rouge in 10 boulevard de la Bastille in the 12th district. Its open until 7pm and tickets cost 10 euros. We recommend checking it out around 4, when it's quietest.

Va Va Vooooom

Le Tour Auto Optic 2000 - 26th Edition - April 24th - Grand Palais

Do you love cars? Yes! Then this is the event for you. Do you love racing? Yes! Then this is the event for you. If you are like me, and you like neither cars nor racing, then this might be the event for you. It's not a guarantee but if last years numbers were anything to go by, you can expect quite a crowd to come out. And this outdoor event is pretty hard to miss if you're walking by the Seine anywhere near the Grand Palais.

So what is it? Well, its kinda like a vintage car show meets formula 1 meets the beginning of the Tour de France (if they used cars instead of bicycles). It's a race, and these cars are ready to compete but before they do that you can get up close and check them out, expect classics like Simca, René Bonnet, Delahaye and Facel Vega.

Continuing with our healthy food section, in our last edition we told you all about the magic of..... vegetables. Oooh la la. This months edition, we've gone completely bonkers for vegetables and we want to tell you all about VeggieWorld. Its a massive two day event at the end of April and its all vegan. Calm down! If you're not vegan, don't worry. I'm not, but I love a good food festival. Delicious, healthy and incredibly creative, the food on offer here is inspiring as well as being environmentally friendly.

You can purchase your ticket in advance for 10 euros and the venue is right in the middle of Paris. Expect cooked and raw food and lots of natural, eco-friendly ingredients. And with so many old things in Paris and institutions that have annual events since the year dot, VeggieWorld is only in its second year. The vegetables roll into town on the 22nd and 23rd of April in The Centquatre, a cool market space within minutes from La Chapelle metro in the heart of the 19th.

F o i r e  d u  T r ô n e

It's a bit like Disneyland, with over 350 different rides and attractions. The food, the bright lights, the adrenaline, its a great family day out. Oh, but there's one interesting thing. This funfair is officially the oldest in France and celebrated in 1000 year anniversary in 1964. Located right on the edge on the 12th district of Paris, its accessible and you could easily spend the whole day. Especially if the weather is good.

With the art and culture, sometimes you just want to explode and eat candy floss and bump into people on a bumper car. That's totally fine. If you want to spin at 360 degrees at 50 miles an hour, that's totally fine. The best way to get here is the metro - Line 8 - Porte Dorée. The prices increase every year but you can expect to pay approx 5 euros for each attraction. So if you are on a budget, choose them wisely.
