The 10 Best Places to Buy Toys in Paris

November 17, 2024
When people talk about how Paris is the ultimate shopping destination, they mostly refer to clothes, accessories, shoes, and luxury goods. But what about toys? Whether it's their birthday or Christmas is just around the corner, your kids are likely expecting you to give them toys for their present. And as a parent who has lived in Paris for a while now, I've settled on 10 great shops for you to check out. My kids have loved the gifts I've bought them from places like La Grande Récré, Nain Bleu, and Si Tu Veux. Yes, I've shopped in many of them because they all offer something different. And that something might just be what your kid wants!

The 10 Best Places to Buy Toys in Paris

Le Bon Marché

I consider Le Bon Marché the most complete department store in Paris. Not only does it have famous brands and cool, underrated labels, but it also sells toys. The city's other famous department stores are more focused on luxury, which isn't bad, but it does nothing for a parent like me who still has to shop for little kids. At the same time, the toys here have an educational tinge to them. When my son was just a toddler, I bought him a couple of numbered blocks from here and lo and behold, his best subject in school is math!

Address: 24 Rue de Sèvres, 75007 Paris, France

La Grande Récré

La Grande Récré is Paris's answer to Toys'R'Us and other famous chain toy stores. Located on Rue La Boétie in the 8th arrondissement, this is the best shop to find the toys your kids are asking you to buy. This is where I bought my son's new Spider-Man action figure when I promised him a prize for passing his big test. My friend also bought the latest Holiday Barbie here for his daughter. No matter the toy, there's a good chance that La Grande Récré has it!

Nain Bleu

If your kid is still a baby or a toddler, you'll want to buy them toys from Nain Bleu. The store is located on Rue Saint-Roch in the 1st arrondissement and is a treasure trove of adorable trinkets, soft plushes, and the like. I've been to many baby showers in the city and most of the guests buy their gifts from here. The toys here aren't exactly branded or anything, but they're all high-quality and have worked wonders for many of my fellow Parisian parents.

Address: 14 Rue Saint-Roch, 75001 Paris, France

Si Tu Veux

Galerie Vivienne is one of those elegant shopping passages where you can buy designer clothes, quality leather goods, and the finest jewelry in Paris. Doesn't sound like it belongs on this list, does it? Well, Si Tu Veux does! I've been to this vintage-style toy shop and let me tell you—it's awesome here! The place is full of educational toys, cute dolls, and even some adorable baby clothes. I'd argue that this is the best place to shop for the kids' Christmas gifts when you want to give them something different from the usual branded toys.

Pain D’epices

When I first went to Pain D’epices inside Passage Jouffroy, I thought I went back in time. The famous 9th arrondissement shopping arcade already has that old-world feel down pat, but this vintage-looking toy store takes it up a notch. It helps that the shop mostly sells classic toys—think adorable animal plushies, bouncy balls, intricate Victorian dollhouses, and brown teddy bears. I'd gather that the toys here are mostly for the younger kids and to tell you the truth, just taking them here will probably be a fond childhood memory for them.

Address: 29 Pass. Jouffroy, 75009 Paris, France

Le Ciel Est À Tout Le Monde

Le Ciel Est À Tout Le Monde literally translates to “Heaven is for everyone” and it couldn't be a more accurate name for the store. While many of the shops on this list only have one location, this one has two in different neighborhoods in Paris. There's one on Rue Gay-Lussac and another on Avenue Trudaine, so whichever is closest to you, at least you don't have to go far. Many would say that this is a baby store, and it's true for the most part, but it also sells educational toys perfect for toddlers. There are many books here too, each more charming than the next.

Address: 10 Rue Gay-Lussac, 75005 Paris, France

Le Petit Souk

Le Petit Souk is another great store that has multiple locations throughout various neighborhoods in Paris. There's one in Montmartre, another near Le Marais, and more. The place is mostly a party supply store but this is where I found a couple of cute toys in Paris too. There are adorable plushes, fun puzzles, and colorful books, among many others. These aren't exactly the toys are that in demand, but the ones I bought seem to be loved by their recipients!

Address: 49 Rue Montmartre, 75002 Paris, France

L'arbre enchanté

I rarely go to the 10th arrondissement since I live pretty far from there, but when I was there, I stumbled upon L'arbre enchanté on Rue du Château d'Eau. I was in the area for a friend's kid's birthday party and I realized I forgot my gift, this store seemed like a godsend! The place has fun stuff on offer, from mini pianos for little musicians to unique board games that you might not even know about. I'm proud to say that the puzzle I bought was a great hit (at least, that's what my friend told me!).

L'Oiseau de Paradis

Fair warning: L'Oiseau de Paradis is a toy store on Boulevard Saint-Germain! It is not Le Paradis Latin, which is a famous cabaret in Paris. I can't tell you how many folks got confused when they research about the place online. You probably searched this name after seeing it in my post and were surprised that images of scantily clad dancers popped up. Don't worry! L'Oiseau de Paradis is an actual toy store that has anything and everything your little ones will want. There are cute wooden toys, fun board games, and even cool tents for their bedroom.

Address: 211 Bd Saint-Germain, 75007 Paris, France

Le Petite Prince

If you guessed that this store is somehow related or inspired by the famous novel of the same name, you're correct! Le Petite Prince is the beloved book's first official merchandise shop. It sells children's book versions of the novel, various Little Prince trinkets, cute fox plushies, and more. You may think that there's nothing here for you if you/your kids aren't fans of the story, but I assure you that the place has amazing gifts in store! Check it out!
