These are The 10 Vintage Shops in Paris You Need to Know

December 22, 2024
If you truly love fashion in Paris, you should know about Didier Ludot, Skat Vintage, Palace Callas, and Palettist Vintage, among many others. You've probably already surmised that these are vintage shops in Paris, and I'd argue among the best of the bunch! I've lived in Paris all my life and I assure you that people love vintage fashion here. The city may always be on the cutting edge of style and trot out the latest trends, but we Parisians still rely on our trustworthy pieces, no matter how old they are. Hence, if you want to dress like us, consider shopping in any of these cool boutiques!

These are The 10 Vintage Shops in Paris You Need to Know

Kilo Shop

No talk of the best vintage shops in Paris is complete without mentioning Kilo Shop. Why? Because it's one of the very few on this list that has various locations throughout different neighborhoods in Paris. I live fairly near its Marais outlet store, which is also its biggest, so I shop here a lot myself. Trust and believe that every time I go here, I come out with bags filled with secondhand clothing. They're all well-maintained and classic pieces that you'll undoubtedly use in your wardrobe again and again.

Address: 69-71 Rue de la Verrerie, 75004 Paris, France

Didier Ludot

Didier Ludot, both the man and his eponymous shop, is the utmost authority in vintage fashion in Paris. Monsueir Ludot opened his haute couture resale boutique in Palais Royale in the 1st arrondissement and essentially introduced the notion of secondhand dressing to the French fashion capital. Fortunately, it has retained its tradition of conserving and selling quality designer pieces, offering up some of the most priceless finds in the city. I find it a bit too expensive, but if you could afford some vintage couture, you'll love it here!

Revoir Vintage

What I love most about Revoir Vintage, also known as Palettist, is that it boasts a wide range of vintage fashion. From the 1970s to the early 2000s, you'll get all sorts of of cute yet classic styles here. Some are designer, specifically the famous haute couture brands, while others are unmarked, possibly from brands that are no longer around or possibly even coming from other countries. I've bought many Chanel jackets here and I bought them for much less than how much they go for in the famous department stores.

Address: 12 Rue Commines, 75003 Paris, France

Skat Vintage

I have a girlfriend who's just in love with 1940s fashion. From wool suits to silk dresses, she loves dressing up as if she's Rita Hayworth on the set of “Gilda” (1946). Where does she get clothes? From a darling store called Skat Vintage on Rue Saint-Paul in the 4th arrondissement. The place is close to me since it's also in the Marais district and I admit, their selection is amazing. I'm not that much of a fan of 40s fashion myself, but I've gotten a few good pieces from here as well.

Palace Callas

Vogue magazine has consistently ranked Palace Callas as one of the best vintage shops in Paris, so naturally, I just had to check it out myself. The verdict: it's worth all the hype! The store feels like it's practically built for the Carrie Bradshaws of the world—quirky fashionistas who use vintage fashion to create unique and out-there looks. From the brightest colors to the kookiest silhouettes, the clothes here are standouts no matter how you style them. Doesn't that sound like they're worthy investments? I definitely think so!

Thanx God I'm a VIP

Bad grammar in its name aside, Thanx God I'm a VIP is truly one of the best vintage shops in Paris. Located on Rue de Lancry, you really will end up looking like a VIP when you wear whatever you buy from here. Can you believe I got an actual Alaïa dress from the 80s here? It was a “holy grail” for me for years and this was the only shop that had it! This alone was enough to make me a patron of the store, as I'm sure others are too.

Open Dressing

I guess the reason why this store is called Open Dressing is because it's pretty loose with its definition of 'vintage.' Don't get me wrong, you'll still get your hands on some pretty rare and old pieces here. It has its fair share of 70s Céline classics, 80s Dior couture, and some 90s Ralph Lauren staples too. At the same time, however, the shop also sells pieces from modern brands—e.g. Jacquemus and Coperni—that are only a couple of years or even a couple of seasons old. They're not exactly 'vintage' in the traditional sense, but they're still some awesome finds perfect for helping you dress up like a Parisian.

Chinemachine

If you know Montmartre in the 18th arrondissement, you know that the old world reigns supreme here. From centuries-old cafes to classics homes that have largely remained untouched, the past is as present here at, well... the present! Naturally, this includes vintage fashion too. Chinemachine is an institution of a vintage shop on Rue des Martyrs. I even liken more to a mini museum of how people dressed in the past as it is a boutique for secondhand clothing. The pieces here aren't just vintage! They're priceless artifacts of fashion past, bringing its timeless sophistication to today.

Address: 100 Rue des Martyrs, 75018 Paris, France

Gaijin Paris

Gaijin Paris is another vintage shop I frequent since it's only just here in the Marais district. It's also a personal favorite of mine since it's specialized on vintage Japanese fashion. That's right! If you're on the lookout for classic Comme des Garçons, Yohji Yamamoto, and Junya Watanabe, this place is your best bet. Now, I can't guarantee that there will be pieces from said designers when you get here, but you might discover new brands that are just good, if not better. My wardrobe certainly improved after I started shopping here.

Address: 20 Rue du Pont aux Choux, 75003 Paris, France

Saint-Ouen Flea Market

If you're looking for another option to find the best vintage clothes in Paris, consider shopping at Saint-Ouen Flea Market. Located in Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine, one of the nearest Paris suburbs, it's widely considered the quintessential flea market in Paris. Part of that is its extensive and often extremely rare fashion selection. While you may recognize a few designer brands here, the clothes are mostly secondhand from old Parisians. Some are labeled by companies that no longer exist while others are handmade but high-quality pieces made at home.
