Paris in February 2025: What to Expect

January 11, 2025
Is February the best month to be in Paris? Because this is the month of Valentine's Day, I’m sure many of you feel like Paris is where you ought to be with your partner. I can't fault you for that since the city truly is romantic, but there's more to the city than just that! If you'll be in Paris next month, there's much to look forward to. There's Crêpe Day on February 2nd, the “One Thousand and One Orchids” Show at Jardin des Plantes starting on February 6th, and the Chinese New Year Celebration at Bastille Market on February 17th, to name a few.

Prepare for The Coldest Time of The Year

If there's one thing you should expect in Paris this February 2025, it's the cold weather. February is often the peak of winter in the city, especially since the average temperature usually ranges. I've lived in Paris for a while now and it still shocks me how cold Paris gets every February. Just like many of you, I always saw Paris as this sunny destination where spring is eternal. I know Paris gets cold every winter and that it snows here, but I only discovered just how much it does when I relocated here. So make sure to get those coats, parkas, and heat techs ready!

Get into Crêpe Day

Now, let's get into the actual events in Paris this February 2025. First up is a holiday—Crêpe Day! Because it has such amazing local pastries, desserts, and sweets, crêpes often get overlooked among France's best treats. I think it's perhaps another version of the pancake which is already famous in various other countries. Nevertheless, Paris can make a mean crêpe and February 2 is the best day to get some. This is the day that the French designated as Crêpe Day, also known as “La Chandeleur,” which is said to be the day when the Baby Jesus was presented in the temple.

See The Annual “One Thousand and One Orchids” Show

When I say that Paris is cold every February, it truly is cold every February! I can't stress it enough! The city gets so chilly that you're just about ready to leave and go to the South of France, the Mediterranean Islands, or any other warm place nearby. But what if you can't? I've been tempted to leave myself countless times too but I still had work so I couldn't. Hence, I went to the annual “One Thousand and One Orchids” in Jardin des Plantes instead, one of Paris’s underrated parks. The park's biggest greenhouse hosts this massive display of, you guessed it, orchids and it's a warm, almost tropical escape from the rest of the wintry city.

Check Out Première Vision Paris

Ever wondered how trends come about? I only discovered recently that it's not exactly a coincidence that many big brands put out collections that feature the same or mostly similar styles, colors, silhouettes, or even callbacks to past trends. All the major trends you see in Paris Fashion Week are first exhibited at Première Vision Paris. This year, the first one will be held at Maison de la Mutualité from February 11 to 13, 2025. It's not exactly open to the public, but you can stay tuned on what the attendees will say about it instead.

Fall in Love on Valentine's Day

My boyfriend and I just became official this past Christmas so I'm already excited this Valentine's Day. After living here for years, this is the first time I'll be spending this infamous holiday with someone in Paris so admittedly, I'm not exactly an expert on this. Nevertheless, my eyes were open every time February 14th came around and I know how my fellow Parisians celebrated the most romantic day of the year. My advice (and what I'll be doing this year)—go somewhere underrated. There are many perfect Parisian cafes for Valentine's Day and a lot of them are virtually unknown. You might just bump into us if you go to one of them!

Celebrate The Chinese New Year at Bastille Market

Chinese New Year will be on January 29th this year but the celebrations continue until February! One that I'm excited about and I suggest you check it out yourself is the event on February 17th at the Bastille Market in the 11th arrondissement. There will be lion dances, martial arts exhibitions, Asian food stalls, and more. As one of the biggest markets in Paris, it's always lively at Marché Bastille but it's especially festive for the Lunar New Year. It's also great to see a different side to Paris that's not always front and center.

Go Vintage at Retromobile

If you're a huge vintage car aficionado and you can even afford to collect them, I suggest you buy your ticket to Retromobile 2025 right now! I'm sure they're already selling their hotcakes since it's one of the best classic car shows in the world. I've been to it last year and as someone who's not that into automobiles myself, I can say that it truly is amazing. It made me fantasize about how fun and fast it must have been to ride these babies back then. Heck, I'm sure anyone will look cool cruising around in these vintage cars today!
