Where to See Cherry Blossoms in Paris

January 26, 2025
Not that you asked, but do you know what I consider the best time of year in Paris? Springtime! As Audrey Hepburn said in “Sabrina” (1954), “Paris smells its sweetest' in spring. It's true, but I'll also add that Paris looks its sweetest every spring. The city glows in a lovely pinkish hue thanks to the many cherry blossoms here. While they're not as common here as in Japan, there are still many cherry blossoms in Paris. Some of my favorite spots to see them include the Tuileries Gardens, Champ de Mars near the Eiffel Tower, and the highly underrated Square Gabriel Pierné.

Bois de Vincennes

If you were to ask me, I'd always say that Bois de Vincennes is the best park in Paris. It's located by the edge of the 12th arrondissement, so it's a far away from the rest of the city. If you're like me and you go to parks to just escape the hustle and bustle of the big city, then you'll love Bois de Vincennes! I especially enjoy going here every spring, when the cherry blossoms bloom and I'm transported to a fairytale world. I even think that they're probably the most delicate-looking of all the cherry blossoms in Paris.

Champ de Mars

Now, if you truly want to see an extraordinary Parisian scene, wait until you see the cherry blossoms bloom in Champ de Mars! As a Parisian myself who has lived here all his life, I admit that I've gotten to the point that seeing the Eiffel Tower doesn't excite me anymore. It's a great landmark, sure, but since I see it every day since I pass by it when I go to work, the hype has died down for me. That is until spring arrives and the cherry blossoms add a magical, rosy glow to it. The sight is absolutely breathtaking!

Jardin des Combattants Espagnols de la Nueve

Located in the 4th arrondissement, Jardin des Combattants Espagnols de la Nueve is one of the more underrated parks in Paris. I'm not even sure you could call it a park, per se. It's not exactly as big a green space as the city's more famous parks. It is, however, a lovely sprinkle of botanical bliss near Hôtel de Ville. And of course, it looks even more beautiful when the cherry blossoms pop out with their pretty pink vibrancy. The contrast between their delicate hues and Hôtel de Ville’s colder concrete aesthetic is quite a sight to behold!

Jardin des Plantes

The cherry blossoms in Jardin des Plantes aren’t necessarily pink, but rather white in their delicate hues. Does this make it any less magical than the other cherry blossoms in Paris? Of course not! I admit I prefer the pink trees myself, but I can't deny that these whiter and lighter petals still take my breath away. They just look so soft and light and airy that it's almost unreal. Monet himself couldn't have painted a lovelier painting of Paris even if he tried. Mother Nature truly is the best artist of us all!

Jardins du Trocadéro

Much like Champ de Mars, the cherry blossoms at Jardins du Trocadéro help me appreciate the Eiffel Tower more. There's just something about seeing this world-famous landmark framed by pink plush petals that give it a different glow. I've always found the Eiffel Tower to be a rather cold-looking monument when I pass by it going to work. It's a cool tower, sure, but I didn't get the hype. It's only when the cherry blossoms bloom that I see that the area itself, both the tower and its picturesque surroundings, truly is an awe-inspiring scene. And that's from a native Parisian!

Jardin du Tuileries

Is Jardin du Tuileries an overrated park? I think so. It's just so famous and therefore, so crowded that I no longer fancy myself going here as often as I did before. I think that the more underrated parks in Paris are better, but that's just me. This also isn't to say that Jardin du Tuileries is no longer worth visiting. I still think it's a beautiful park, especially when this green space is given a pinker and rosier tone by the cherry blossoms. Seeing them against the neutral-toned sculptures, fountains, and more is looking at a painting at the Louvre.

Square Gabriel Pierné

You probably haven't heard about Square Gabriel Pierné, have you? If you're not a Parisian, it's more than likely that you don't know what and where this is. Thus, I have the pleasure of introducing you to this enchanting, almost secret plaza in the famous Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood in the 5th arrondissement. It's such a hidden gem—literally!—that even other Parisians don't know about it. I'm already going out on a limb here by mentioning it on this list since I kinda want to gatekeep it myself. However, the sight of Square Gabriel Pierné with its cherry trees is too beautiful to keep secret.

Where: 5 Rue de Seine, 75006

Parc Montsouris

Finally, there's Parc Montsouris, yet another of the very beautiful parks in Paris. Much like Bois de Vincennes that started this list, the cherry blossoms in Parc Montsouris added a storybook-like touch to the typical Parisian green space. Set by lush grassy fields and a serene pond, you can easily imagine a princess frolicking here back in the Middle Ages or even in the 16th century. And even if you're not here to see the cherry blossoms, I still suggest going to Parc Montsouris to take a break from the rest of the city.
