NEIGHBORHOOD
Rue du Pré aux Clercs is a short quiet street that runs from Boulevard Saint Germaine and ends at Rue de l'Université. Despite its central location, the street is very peaceful and quiet. This is a total contradiction to what this area used to be; a place of duels and a lot of fighting back in the days. The area once belonged to the University of Paris and the name Pré aux Clercs (Scholar’s Field) came from the fact that the area was where student intellectuals went to relax, picnic and party.
Now, the picture of fun and carefree student life has been transformed into a sophistication and modernity as restaurants, cafes, shops, boutiques, galleries and museums, and other commercial establishments abound the surrounding area. Truly, this area is nothing but an adorable and splendid neighborhood.
